The Coppersmith Farmhouse by Devney PerryGigi and her daughter Roe inherit a house in Prescott, Montana and decide to move to the small town. Jess, the town sheriff, has been the caretaker of the house for the past 19 years. At first, they don’t get along, Jess believing that Gigi took advantage of Ben, the previous owner of the house. Yet, he quickly realizes he has made a mistake and begins to pursue her. At the same time all of this is happening, there is a lot more crime in Prescott that leads to many avenues of suspense and a very stressed out Jess.

I really enjoyed the mix between suspense and relationship development. Jess is terrific with Roe and so easily joins into their family. Truthfully, the reason this book was 4 hearts instead of 5 was because of the amount of times I got annoyed with Gigi and her constant thought that she was allowing Jess to “walk all over her”. Sometimes I really liked her, but then she would continue to bring this point up, and as a reader, I didn’t feel like he was ever “walking all over her”. He would disagree or slightly yell about something in the heat of the moment. In my opinion, Gigi kept making it out to be more than it was. Other than this aspect of the story I absolutely adored this book. Recommend.

Favorite Quote: “But just like Friday night dinners at the cafe, I’d never go fishing alone again. Because what I’d thought was peace was just an illusion. Today, with Georgia and Roe I learned what peace truly felt like.”
